Caption: Hurricane damage. Road on South Hutchinson Island, Florida, USA, flooded by a storm surge created by Hurricane Frances. Hurricane Frances hit land at Fort Pierce, just north of South Hutchinson Island, on 4 September 2004. At the time it was classified as a category 2 hurricane, with winds of between 154 and 177 kilometres per hour (kph) and was moving very slowly (between 8 and 16 kph). The winds killed 6 people, damaged buildings, brought down power lines and caused $100 million worth of damage to space and military facilities at Cape Canaveral.
