Caption: Surfing hurricane Katrina. Three young surfers head to sea to surf waves caused by the approaching hurricane Katrina. Photographed on 25th August 2005 at Boca Raton, Florida, USA. On 29th August, Katrina made landfall as a category four hurricane near the port of New Orleans. The wind, rain and storm surge it brought led to the breaching of levees in the low-lying city. This left around 80% of New Orleans underwater, prompting the total evacuation of the city. Many thousands are thought to have died.
