Caption: Pre-flood Mozambique (image 1 of 2). Infrared satellite image of southern Mozambique in November 1998, before the major flooding of early 2000. North is at top. Vegetation is red and brown, bare ground is white and green, and water is blue and black. The Limpopo river, with its dark green channel, runs down the centre of the image. The flooding was caused by heavy rainfall brought by tropical cyclones. This image was produced from data collected by the French SPOT 4 satellite on 15 November 1998. For Mozambique affected by flooding see image E160/140.
