Caption: Measuring the climate. Thermometers inside a Stevenson Screen used for daily monitoring of weather conditions. The thermometers hanging vertically are wet and dry bulb types, used to gauge relative humidity. The horizontal tubes are part of a maximum and minimum thermometer. The screen is used to protect the thermometers and other instruments from wind and rain - these would otherwise give false readings. Photographed on the roof of the Bristol Meteorology Office, England.
