Caption: Air analysis. Technician fills a gas cylinder with a sample of air for analysis. The composition of the air will be analysed to determine the levels of different gases within it, and the exact kinds of atomic nuclei (isotopes) which make up these gases. Gases which will be particularly studied include those which trap heat in the atmosphere (greenhouse gases), & those that destroy ozone, a gas which blocks the harmful ultra-violet rays in sunlight. Photographed at the Cape Grim Baseline Air Pollution Station in Tasmania, Australia. The sample will be studied at a laboratory in Melbourne, Australia.
