Caption: A surveyor uses a satellite receiver to establish a fixed position as a survey control for a seismic survey on the Norwegian island of Spitsbergen, on the edge of the Arctic Ocean. A small, portable antenna (out of picture) feeds the satellite signal to this box of electronics, which gives the surveyor his position. The seismic survey was conducted in 1986 for an oil company.
