Caption: Inuit fishing village, Greenland. This community survives by hunting fish, seals and whales from the sea using kayaks and harpoons. Narwhal meat in particular provides an important source of vitamin A, vitamin C, protein, omega-3 fatty acids and iron in an area where fresh fruit and vegetables are scarce. Narwhal tusks provide income when sold either whole, or carved into ivory souvenirs.
