Caption: Arctic temperature anomaly. Computer model showing the yearly temperature anomaly over the Arctic region between August 1988 and July 1989. Areas that have shown an increase in temperature over this time range from yellow to red (warmest) and areas that have shown a decrease in temperature range from white to blue (coolest). Most of the Arctic region was cooler than normal during this period.
