Colours approximate to true colours (water is dark blue, snow white, ice blue/white). At upper left are snow-covered mountains on Trini- ty Peninsula. Exposed land is dark blue, flecked with white. At lower right is Vega Island (white), and at lower left a cluster of islets. Pack ice (lower right) from melting ice sheets (upper cen- tre, for example) covers much of the sea.
