Caption: Macrophotograph of a fructose lichen Cladonia coccifera, commonly found growing on moors and hillsides especially at high altitudes. It forms patches of tiny scales, from which grow hollow warty stalks, seen here. The stalks bear wide- mouthed cups which carry scarlet spore-producing structures on their rims.
