Caption: Lichen. View of the fruticose lichen Cladonia fimbriata. Here, wide-mouthed cups are borne on hollow warty stalks; on the rim of the cups are spore-producing structures. The vegetative parts of the lichen can be seen as scales growing on and around the stalks. Cladonia fimbriata is commonly found growing on walls, tree stumps and roots, and dunes in Britain and other regions of Europe.
