Caption: Land's End. Granite cliffs at Land's End, the most westerly point of mainland England in the county of Cornwall. Granite is a hard, igneous rock formed by the rapid cooling of underground molten rock (magma). This rock has cooled in a columnar formation. Cliffs are formed as rock is undercut due to erosion, in this case by waves. Eventually the rock forms a sheer surface. The cliffs at Land's End are around 60 metres high.
