This image is part of the feature Space Radar - Srtm

Caption: Sredinnyy Khrebet volcanoes. Coloured three- dimensional computer map of the Sredinnyy Khrebet volcano range in the Kamchatka Peninsula, Russia. The topography of the region was mapped by the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) on the Space Shuttle Endeavour, using reflected radar pulses. Colour was provided by the Landsat 7 satellite: snow is white, vegetation is green and water is blue/black. The snow-covered Sredinnyy Khrebet range dominates the region. Floodplains covered in vegetation lie inland from the Sea of Okhotsk (across bottom). SRTM is run by NASA, the USA's National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA), and the German and Italian space agencies.
