Caption: An exposed formation of sandstone containing ochre. Ochre is a term used to describe sedimentary limonitic rocks which contain large amounts of hydrated iron oxide and hydroxide minerals. Ochre has had an historical importance as the source of a rich pigment ('Yellow Ochre'). Photographed in the Rousillon region of France.
