Calcite conglomerate. This rock is a conglomerate of various calcite components of different sizes stuck together during lithification, the process by which minerals and sediments turn into rock. The components of this rock were brought together by water currents after being eroded and deposited near a shoreline. This sample is from San Vicente, the Algarve, Portugal.
