Caption: Nepheline monzosyenite igneous rock. Monzosyenite is an igneous rock, formed when volcanic magma solidifies under pressure in the Earth's crust. It is rich in minerals, in this case nepheline, an aluminosilicate. The dark mineral crystals consist of biotite and pyroxenes. This sample measures 120 millimetres across.
