Caption: The mineral crocoite (lead chromate), with prismatic, orange-red crystals, which are sometimes striated. Crocoite is a secondary mineral deposited from hydrothermal solutions containing chromic acid acting upon lead minerals with which it is associated. It has no commercial importance and is of interest only to scientists and collectors because of its rarity. This specimen was found in Tasmania.
