Caption: A aggregate of muscovite crystals. Muscovite (hydrous potassium aluminium silicate) is a type of mica which forms foliated, scaly masses. It is used as an electrical and thermal insulator and in the manufacture of paper, rubber and fireproof paint. This specimen measures 18 x 13 cm and was found in Genipapo's Mine, Itinga, Brazil.
