Malachite. Lump of malachite (hydrous copper carbonate) held in a man's hands. Malachite is a mineral formed by oxidation of copper deposits. It is a valuable decorative stone used to make small tables, boxes, ornaments and jewellery. In the past it was crushed and used as a pigment called mountain green.
