Caption: Iron dendrites in agate. Slice of white agate with dendrite crystals of iron oxide. Agate is silica (silicon dioxide) that precipitated from liquid inside existing rock. Impurities within agate (in this case, iron oxide) can give the mineral a wide range of colours. Fine specimens of agate are found in Brazil Italy and Germany.
