Caption: Film about human ancestors. Computer-generated image (CGI) sequence showing how an early hominid walked. This sequence was created for the French film-documentary A Species Odyssey (2003). This film, directed by Jacques Malaterre, used models and CGI to trace the story of human evolution over millions of years. This story is known from fossil evidence, which also indicates how each of the various hominid species walked. An important stage in human evolution was when an early hominid first walked on two legs (bipedalism). The species featured in the film included Orrorin tugenensis, Australopithecus afarensis and Australopithecus anamensis.
