Caption: Hyolithid fossil. The hyolithids were a group of bottom-dwelling shelled invertebrates. It is thought that they fed on organic detritus in seabed mud. This fossil was found in Wales in beds from the Menevian age (514-509 million years ago) in the Cambrian period.
