Struthiomimus dinosaur model. Struthiomimus was an ostrich-like, plant-eating dinosaur that lived around 70 million years ago. Like an ostrich it had a beak without teeth, a long neck and powerful hind legs for running at high speed to escape from predators. Adults measured 4-5 metres in height and had long muscular tails, used to balance the body while running. Scientists think Struthiomimus could run just a fast as a modern ostrich: 31 miles per hour (50 kmph).
