Caption: Pterosaur flying reptiles. Artwork of Pteranodon sternbergi reptiles flying at sunset. These pterosaurs lived during the Cretaceous Period (146 to 65 million years ago). They were the largest of the Pteranodon, with a wingspan of 9 metres. It is thought that the vertical crest on the head kept them stable while flying.
