Caption: Erosion in the California Badlands. Dusk view of Zabriskie Point, Death Valley, showing extensive erosion. This type of erosion is due to occasional flash floods in this desert-like region. The floods exploit cracks and faults in the soft rock which were caused by the effects of frost. NB The image of the Moon was probably added as a double exposure.
