Caption: Rock pedestal. Mushroom-shaped rock pedestal of sedimentary rock. Rock pedestals are residual masses of weak rock capped with a harder rock. The rock seen here has been eroded by the water of a melting glacier. The softer rock of the base has been eroded faster causing the mushroom shape to occur. Photographed at Bridestone rocks, North Yorkshire Moors, England.
