Caption: Limestone karst remnant. Natural limestone sculpture created by the forces of weathering and erosion. This piece of rock may once have formed part of a limestone pavement, but may have been upended by the people of the Burren, on the west coast of Ireland. Limestone pavements are created by rainwater solution of the carbonate minerals that comprise limestone. Sinkholes and gullies form interesting shapes in the rock.
