Caption: Ice-polished rocks in the Morteratsch glacial valley, Grisons, Switzerland. The rocks were smoothed by the weight and movement of ice over them as the Morteratsch glacier flowed down to nearby Pontresina. Warming after the last ice age caused the glacier to retreat, revealing its effects on the landscape.
