Caption: City of Rocks State Park, New Mexcio. These oddly eroded forms, avenues and pillars were created 35 million years ago with a volcano's eruption north of present-day Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. Volcanic ash consolidated to form the rocks, which were then sculpted into unusual shapes over the years by wind and water.
