Caption: Granada and the Sierra Nevada, seen from space. Satellite view of the mountains around the historic city of Granada, southern Spain. The white area below centre is snow in the Sierra Nevada mountains, the highest peak of which is Cerro de Mulhacen (3482 metres). Granada is a reddish patch on the left and at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountains. The linear feature just left of centre is the Sierra Harana ridge. Near top right are the Sierra de Baza mountains, with peaks reaching 2200 metres. In the bottom right corner is part of the Costa del Sol on the Mediterranean Sea. The data for this image were gathered by a Landsat satellite.
