Caption: Amazon rivers. Satellite image of two rivers in Amazonia, Brazil. North is at top. Forest is green and marshland and water are black. The River Araca flows from top left down to far left and then down to lower centre. Here, it joins the River Demini, which flows from centre right to lower centre. The River Demini then flows into the River Negro (not seen, off bottom), a large tributary of the Amazon River. Extensive marshlands (lower right) are seen around the River Demini. Image taken on 3 March 1999, in visible and infrared wavelengths, by the Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+) sensor on NASA's Landsat 7 satellite.
