Caption: Landsat view of the Lake Geneva area. Lake Geneva (Lac Leman) is the large crescent shaped lake at top (north) with the city of Geneva (pale blue) surrounding its southernmost tip. The white areas at right are the snowy caps of the Alps. The two small finger-like lakes near the centre of the image are the Lac d'Annecy (upper right) and the Lac du Bourget (lower left). The pale blue region near the left hand edge of the image is the city of Lyons. The river Rhone can just be traced winding its way from Geneva to Lyons. The river Saone is visible near the left edge of the image (top), flowing southwards to join the Rhone at Lyons.
