Caption: Bridge crossing Silvaplana lake in the Engadine valley near St Moritz, Switzerland. Silvaplana lake is one of several lakes in the Lakeland region of the Engadine valley. The valley was carved by a glacier during the last ice age. As the climate warmed and the ice retreated, large chunks of ice were left behind, which melted to create the lakes.
