Caption: Swamp. Cypress trees in a swamp. Cypress trees are evergreen trees with resinous wood to prevent them from rotting in water. The base of the trunk is broadened to help the tree get enough support in the soft earth of the swamp. A swamp is an area of land which is almost always flooded with shallow water. Photographed in the Atchafalaya swamp, Louisiana, USA.
