Caption: Wetlands. Combined infrared and visible satellite image of the wetlands in the Baja region of southern Hungary. North is at top. The River Danube (black) is down right. The town of Baja is the small grey patch immediately to the east of the river at upper right. Several oxbow lakes are seen along the course of the Danube. These are old meanders that have become cut off from the course of the river, and now exist only as crescent- shaped lakes. Vegetation appears green and red here, and several large rectangular fields are seen. The pale grey is sediment deposited by the river.
