Caption: Siberian wetlands, Russia, satellite image. Snow and ice (white) cover this frozen wetland area of innumerable rivers and water channels. Two rivers, the Mayn River (right) and the Anadyr River (left) form the main water channels. The settlement of Markovo is at lower left. The region is just south of the Arctic Circle, and lies in a remote area of north-eastern Siberia, Russia. The image is around 60 kilometres across. Image acquired in visible wavelengths on 25 October 2000 by the Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+) sensor on NASA's Landsat 7 satellite.
