Caption: Lake Lop Nur, China, satellite image. North is at top. This is a dry salt lake in Xinjiang Province. It used to be one of the largest salt lakes in China, but is now almost totally dry. The concentric rings show progressive evaporation of the lake, leaving behind salt deposits (white). Image data obtained on 13 August 1992.
