Caption: Aspens. Aspen trees Populus tremula in autumn. The aspen is a species of poplar, also named the trembling aspen, so called because it appears to tremble in the wind. Its rounded leaves have flattened stalks, allowing the blades to flutter in the slightest breeze. Evergreen Douglas Firs, Pseudotsuga menziesii, and Western Yellow Pines, Pinus ponderosa, are growing amongst the aspens. Photographed in British Columbia, Canada.
