Caption: Reunion. Computer-generated 3D perspective view of the French island Reunion in the Indian Ocean, seen from the northwest. This image was made by combining an infrared satellite image of the island with a digital elevation map. Forested areas appear red, urban areas pale blue and the sea blue-black. The horizon and sky were added on a computer. The summit of Reunion's active volcano Piton de la Fournaise can be seen at the far end of the island. The satellite data were gathered by one of the French SPOT satellites.
