Caption: Kamaran Island, Yemen, from space. North is at top. Only the southern part of the island (top) is seen. At centre is part of the Isa Peninsula, which lies on the west coast of mainland Yemen, jutting into the Red Sea. The area is largely composed of a rocky, sandy desert, and the coasts are lined with coral reefs. Photographed from an altitude of 157 kilometres from the Space Shuttle Atlantis on the 10th April 2002, during mission STS-110.
