Caption: Isle of Arran. SPOT satellite image of the Isle of Arran in the Firth of Clyde (the River Clyde estuary), west Scotland. This granite island is the largest in the Firth of Clyde, with an area of 427 square kilometres. It has a population of approximately 5000. The main village is Brodick, located on its eastern shore (right) within the upper bay. The island's main industry is tourism. It is also home to Scotland's newest whisky distillery, which was built in 1995. Image taken on the 3 March 2005.
