Caption: Jerusalem. Artwork of the city of Jerusalem in the Kingdom of Israel at the time of King Solomon's reign (c. 970-930BCE). Solomon succeeded his father King David, who had established Jerusalem as the capital of the Kingdom of Israel. Solomon built the first Jewish temple (far right) in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, or temple mount. The temple was destroyed by the Babylonians in 586BCE.
