Caption: Hod Hill Iron Age settlement. This is the largest Iron Age settlement in Dorset. On a hill at an elevation of 143 metres, the settlement occupies a strong defensive position. Fortified in approximately 500 Bc by a local Celtic tribe, the Durotriges, the settlement was later captured and used as a military camp by the Romans in AD43. Photographed in Dorset, UK.
