Caption: Guernsey cow. The Guernsey is a dairy breed of the domestic cow (Bos taurus). It developed on the island of Guernsey, in the English Channel, from a stock of French cattle brought there in about 960. It is noted for producing high-fat, high-protein milk, and is an excellent grazer. This cow was photographed in Illinois, USA. The Guernsey was first introduced into the USA in 1840. There are now over 3 million Guernseys in the USA.
