Stitchwort (white flowers, at left) is a short perennial plant which grows in woods and hedges and flowers between April and June. The blackberry, at lower right for example, is a woody biennial shrub that grows in woods, scrub, and open and waste ground. It flowers between May and November and is covered in easily detached thorns.
