Caption: Sheep droppings. Rounded pellets of faeces from the domestic sheep (Ovis aries). The domestic sheep is raised on farms for its meat and wool. It is a ruminant herbivore, grazing on grass. It digests its food in two steps, first eating the grass, and then regurgitating it and chewing a semi-digested form called the cud. This, along with different stomach chambers, helps ruminants digest the tough plant fibre cellulose. The compacted remains, after the reabsorption of water in the large intestine, are egested from the body by the defecation of small, rounded pellets called droppings.
