Caption: Arctic herb slope. Mixed flower community in the Arctic, known as a herb slope or herb-rich bank. The slope is dominated by the yellow flowers of narrowleaf arnica (Arnica angustifolia). Herb- rich banks are areas of abundant plant growth. They require a constant water supply in the summer, as well as high temperatures. They are often found near to snowdrifts on south-facing hills, which receive high levels of sunlight. Photographed on Clavering Island in North East Greenland National Park, Greenland.
