Maize is a good source of carbohydrate, dietary fibre, oils, vitamin A and potassium. It can be eaten as whole grains or be used to make flour. Its oils can be extracted for human consumption as part of products such as margarine. Maize is also used to make animal feed, alcohol, and is used to make synthetic materials.
