Caption: Cranberry harvest. Cranberries, Vaccinium sp., floating in water during the harvest. The fruit have been corralled using a floating boom (yellow, in background). Fields of cranberries are flooded during harvesting to help separate the buoyant fruit from the plant. Cranberries are mainly used to make sauce, jelly, and juice. They are a good source of vitamin C & contain natural antibiotics; consumption of cranberries can particularly help to fight infections of the intestine and urinary tract. Photographed in Wisconsin, USA.
