Caption: Cotton crop. Rows of mature cotton plants, Gossypium sp., ready for harvesting. Cotton is grown for the white fibres (lint) contained within their seed capsules (bolls). These fibres are used to make cloth. The first stage of harvesting involves stripping the leaves from the plant. The bolls are then collected. Photographed on the Condamine River floodplain, Australia.
